Nor Azlina binti Yusof, known as Kak Yong from Ipoh, Perak, is an inspiring example of resilience and growth. After an early retirement and a leap into the uncertain world of entrepreneurship, Kak Yong faced numerous challenges. Coming from a background with no formal business education, she struggled to find her path. Despite being called foolish for leaving a stable, high-paying government job, she followed her heart and began her entrepreneurial journey in 2016.
Initially without a clear plan, Kak Yong founded Minda Itqan PLT, a training and consultancy company, after discovering her passion for training. However, life threw her a curveball when she was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and the COVID-19 pandemic further strained her family, especially after her husband lost his job. Despite these obstacles, she persevered, finding solace and purpose in organizing daily Quranic Talk Therapy sessions, which have now grown into a community of over 400 members.
Her journey took a positive turn when she joined the MADCash Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) Cohort 4. Through MADCash, she received structured entrepreneurship development, financial literacy training, and invaluable exposure to real pitching sessions and international speakers. This experience reignited her confidence and inspired her to dream big, expanding her business vision and strategic collaborations.
One of her proudest achievements is the Home Engineers (HE) project which she initiated aimed at empowering housewives by building their confidence and providing them with a platform to contribute to the community. The HE project’s tagline, “C.A.R.E 4 Suri,” emphasizes Communication, Attitude, Relationship, and Emotion as the pillars of self-development for women.
Kak Yong’s journey with MADCash has not only transformed her own life but has also had a significant impact on her community. Her efforts have inspired others, like Puan Hasmiza Mohd Amin, a senior citizen who found new purpose and confidence through Kak Yong’s programs and is now on the path to opening her own preschool.
